Isadora Romero

Isadora Romero is a visual storyteller based in Quito, Ecuador. Her work serves as a bridge between documentary and fine art photography, with a focus on social justice, gender, and environmental issues.

She explores themes such as the human relationship with agriculture and the preservation of agrobiodiversity in Latin America. Additionally, she is co-founder of Ruda Collective, a group of Latin American women photographers. She has exhibited her work in solo shows in Ecuador and group shows in other countries. Among her notable accomplishments, Romero is the winner of the World Press Photo Open Format global and regional award (2022), the Poy Latam in the multimedia category (2023), and the Marilyn Stafford Award (2021). She was selected for the Louis Roederer Discovery Award of Les Rencontres d’Arles (2023); the Prince Claus Fund Artistic and Cultural Responses to Climate Change grant (2022); the Photography and Social Justice Grant of the Magnum Foundation (2021); and the Joop Swart Masterclass of World Press Photo (2020). She is also an educator and member of Women Photograph, Foto Féminas, and Diversify Photo.
